Project Summary:

Location: Brentwood, MO

Remodeling kitchens and bathrooms is a lot of what we do, but we also love finishing basements and providing our clients with more space than they had before. And our clients from Brentwood, MO, wanted a space for the husband to host friends during games and to have places to show off his sports memorabilia. They were a younger couple with one kid and possibly more on the way, so they also wanted an area where kids could play!

The Vision

The goal was to finish the basement and create a mancave for the husband to hang out with friends and include a space for kids to play. In addition, they wanted an area where they could watch the game and pour beers from taps, just like at their favorite sports bars!

The Challenge

Transforming a concrete basement into a warm and cozy living space can sometimes be challenging. However, this basement provided us with plenty of square footage to fit in everything our clients wanted! We had a few plumbing items to hide behind pillars and walls, but everything went smoothly for this project.

The Transformation

This was a fun client and project to work on from start to finish! Our clients were friendly and easygoing and were open-minded about the best way to achieve their goals. We built a bar with a sink and a space for his kegs to fit and beer taps to pour the guys some beers during the game. The bar's backsplash is stacked stone, and we don't usually recommend this in a kitchen. However, in a bar area, it's perfect since you don't typically have as much mess on a hard-to-clean surface. There's bar seating for plenty of hang-out space, and the massive TV on the opposite wall makes this space the perfect setup for gameday. We also created some built-in shelving for his sports memorabilia and some shelves for alcohol to be shown off and easily accessed.

The Details

The fixtures and finishes are unique and not typical to what we have been putting into a lot of homes recently. Its dark stains, textured carpet down the steps, and more traditional cabinets bring this space to life! And one of the most exciting features we added to this bar was a glass rinser, just like in fancy bars!

This family was fun to work with, and now the husband has the perfect space to hang out with his friends and watch whatever sports game they can find. It's ideal for families with children that might be taking naps, you don't have to worry about celebrations waking them up, and it can feel like a get-a-way even though you're right down the steps.
