When it comes to home improvement, no kitchen redesign is complete without brand new furniture and décor. But if you’re unsure about where to start your search, having the world as your oyster can become overwhelming pretty fast.
Today, we’re going to look at a handful of vendors that we think are pretty cool, and we hope you do too.
McDermott Remodeling’s two head offices are located in Belleville, Ill, and St. Louis, MO. In the name of keeping your search local, we’ve included both national retailers and homegrown artisans. Whether you shop online or in person, this list is intended to help you build the kitchen of your dreams.
1. Weekends Only
Weekends Only is a chain of massive outlet stores unique to St. Louis, MO. This chain has five locations open across the St. Louis area, two in Indiana, and one in Illinois!
They offer an array of selections, from dining sets of all shapes and sizes to unique standalone pieces. Shop for tables, chairs, stools, hutches, cabinets, portable islands, bar carts, décor, and much more. They also offer traditional, transitional, contemporary, and rustic-styled furniture, making it a one-stop-shop no matter which way you lean.
True to their name, Weekends Only are—you guessed it—only open on weekends, plus Fridays. However, their online shopping and delivery options provide plenty of flexibility, making it easy to browse, buy, and receive your purchases any day of the week.
2. Reclaimed Furniture
If you are searching for a unique piece that will make a statement in your kitchen, look no further than Reclaimed Furniture. Reclaimed offers handcrafted kitchen tables in a variety of bases and finishes. Reclaimed, along with its sister store, Greyscale Furniture, which offers restored and hand-painted heirloom furniture, are based out of Crystal Lake, Illinois.
These artisanal vendors offer both custom creations and in-stock selections from their existing inventory. In addition to dining tables, they also sell custom-built benches and a handful of chair options.
The prices of these items are based on a basic matrix but can change depending on table length. Once you place your custom order, pieces can be ready in eight to 12 weeks. These unique pieces come with a lifetime warranty and are sealed for a durable finish. Reclaimed delivers locally or nationwide. You can check them out online, or in-person by appointment only.
While these items tend to be a little more expensive, there’s nothing quite like owning an exquisitely crafted, custom-built piece of furniture that you will cherish for decades to come.
Where would any list of furniture vendors be without good old Ikea? Ikea is notorious for its massive collection of furniture in every size, shape, make, and model. If you’re looking for affordable kitchen furniture, from the largest pieces down to the smallest details, then Ikea is the place for you. Plus, their amazingly comprehensive online shopping catalog and international shipping make it easy for you to get what you want.
4. Missouri Furniture
Another outlet retailer, Missouri Furniture, has everything you could want when it comes to kitchen furniture and décor. They offer a variety of dining sets, pub sets, chairs, and stools, and they also carry curios and cabinets, servers and buffets, carts, islands, and racks. Their stock includes items suitable for any size and style of kitchen. Plus, Missouri Furniture offers the best of what our state has to offer, all locally hand-crafted and amazing quality you will love.
Etsy isn’t just for crochet crafts and jewelry! There are plenty of vendors who sell handcrafted furniture, and there’s guaranteed to be something for everyone. With all the different creators out there, you’re bound to find kitchen pieces that you love. These are just a few examples of the incredible artists who sell their wares online:
- What WE Make, based out of Illinois, sells finely crafted and environmentally friendly modern furniture.
- Modern Cre8tive out of Ohio has an abundance of stylish mid-century modern wooden furniture with an eclectic touch.
- Greta de Perry Design is known for her bold, geometric furniture pieces, and bar stools in particular.
While these vendors can, again, be pricier than other ‘fast furniture’ retailers, you can feel confident that you are supporting genuine artisans while investing in a unique, quality product that will make your kitchen feel like home.
